BWI Hotel Site Feasibility Study
BWI Hotel Site Feasibility Study
The Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA) decided to evaluate the feasibility of constructing a hotel in response to current trends of providing first class, on-airport hotel facilities and their desire to continue their commitment to providing traveler convenience. Jacobsen/Daniels Associates was asked to assess the technical feasibility of the proposed hotel at Baltimore/Washington International Airport. The three star, 500-room hotel was planned to be developed within the existing terminal area adjacent to the parking garage. The study considered the existing airfield and terminal complex, as well as planned future runway improvements. Coordination with future CIP projects enabled MAA to understand the potential conflicts with other planned development and make the necessary adjustments to their capital plan.
Jacobsen/Daniels Associates evaluated the technical feasibility of the project by analyzing the potential obstruction impacts to the FAR Part 77, TERPS approach, departure and missed approach criteria, and potential FAA Air Traffic Control line-of-site restrictions. The results of these analyses were compiled in narrative and graphical form using AutoCAD exhibits to illustrate the impacts of the proposed hotel to the various criteria, as well as other planned development.
