Centralized Deicing Facility
In support of the design process for a Centralized Deicing Facility for Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Jacobsen/Daniels Associates (JDA) served as an operational advisor to ensure that the design and layout of the facility met the operational needs of the Airport, FAA and airlines. During the project, JDA sat on the Operations Committee and evaluated various issues including:
- Aircraft movements in and out of the pad and coordination of aircraft control between the airlines, FAA and deicing applicator.
- Deicing vehicle movements and storage on the pad.
- Deicing vehicle movements within the AOA.
- Delivery of Aircraft Deicing Fluid (ADF) and the operational effectiveness of the delivery system.
- Operational aspects of glycol recovery on the pad and in the collection system.
At the outset of the design process, JDA was asked to continue to support the project by assisting the Environmental Manager with the preparation of a Request for Qualifications to obtain a contractor for purposes of glycol recovery.
