Q&A with Stacy
Why did you join J|D?
I got a warm and fuzzy feeling when I had my interviews with the team. I really liked everyone I talked to. Shaun Gough, Matt Shaw, and Linda Roach were so easy to talk to, it was a natural and immediate connection. I made my decision purely on intuition. It just felt like family.
What professional project are you most proud of?
My very first project as a project manager, I built a pedestrian bridge over a busy street connecting an air force base to an aerospace corporation headquarters building. It was a much safer way for pedestrians to travel between the buildings. We saved money and it turned out well.
What is your work motto?
Always exceed the client’s expectations.
What is your personal motto?
See the beauty in the little things of life.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Painting, yoga, hiking, photography, and baking. Baking is truly my love language. I want to bake cookies when something good happens to my friends and family. It’s my way of showing them that I love them.
What would your perfect weekend look like?
Being outdoors, yoga class, hiking, painting watching movies, hanging out with friends, a mini road trip.
Where is your favorite place to be?
My home. Its cozy, warm, comfy, with a lot of natural light, and plants. I’m surrounded by art and, there’s a warm glow everywhere. It’s my sanctuary.
Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?
The North Cascade Mountains. The elevation, beauty, waterfalls, and color of the water…the turquoise green is neon. It’s so beautiful and peaceful up there and made a huge impression on me.
What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
When I was an actor, I did a crazy run of dinner theatre. It was horrible but I can laugh about it now. We were the actors AND we served the drinks and dinner.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
Art.
What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?
Playing the acoustic guitar. I have a guitar that I won’t get rid of because I know one of these days I’ll continue on with my lessons.
Tell us something that might surprise us about you:
I’ve written a book, a screen play, and have exhibited my artwork at galleries. Painting was just my way of expressing myself but one my friends convinced me to try to exhibit. Seeing my work on gallery walls was a wonderful feeling.
What personal project are you most proud of
My cookie business! The cookies have had had an amazing journey on their own and have led me into the homes and offices of some of the biggest celebrities in the world. I get to be a part of people’s biggest moments. One client finally became pregnant and asked her Dr. to tell me so I could design the cookies for a gender reveal; I knew before she did. I’d never guess cookies would bring me experiences like that.
