AspenColorado – The recent groundbreaking at Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE) marked a meaningful milestone for Pitkin County Board of Commissioners and staffJacobsen|Daniels (J|D), project partners, and community members. Together, attendees gathered to celebrate the progress of a journey that started over a decade ago to modernize the airport.

Part of the broader Aspen Airport Modernization Program, this project includes the reconstruction and relocation of Runway 15-33 and associated airfield improvements. The effort represents a transformative investment that will strengthen the airport's long-term functionality and support continued service to the Roaring Fork Valley.

"This is what it looks like when planning turns into progress," said Joe Christie, Vice President. "We're incredibly proud to have partnered with Aspen/Pitkin County Airport on this journey and grateful for the opportunity to help bring years of vision, collaboration, and hard work into reality."

"Breaking ground is a significant and fun step, but it's also the result of careful planning and partnership every step of the way," said G.R. Fielding, Director. "We're proud to help support a project that will enhance the airport's functionality while serving the needs of the Roaring Fork Valley for decades to come."

"Airport planning in a world-renowned valley requires a delicate balance. We aren't just building a runway or a terminal; we are crafting a sustainable space that honors community values while simultaneously managing complex modern requirements," said Abe Oommen, Senior Managing Consultant.

As construction moves forward, J|D will continue providing program management services to support delivery of the modernization program and help guide the airport through this historic phase of development. As we reflect on 25 years of serving airports, we're reminded that every successful project starts with a vision. But the true impact is realized when that vision becomes something people can see, experience, and benefit from for generations to come. At J|D, that's what the journey is all about. We imagine the journey, differently.
