Q & A with Sandra
Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?
Mexico City, it reminds me of who I am and my culture through the food and people. And Tokyo, the culture is something we as Americans can learn from: there is kindness and generosity that I’ve never seen anywhere else in the world. You could leave your wallet on the ground and come back in 24hrs, and no one would touch it. People go out of their way to help. It’s remarkable.
What professional project are you most proud of?
Launching US flights into Cuba when I was working with JetBlue. We only had 9-10 months to get it off the ground as the goal was to be the first airline to be on the ground.
Tell us something surprising about yourself:
I love cooking and hosting dinners for my friends and family, and have professional culinary training. I apprenticed with a Cordon Bleu trained chef and was his sous chef for several months. I had the opportunity to prepare a Christmas Lunch for Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, and in 2007, I enrolled in a certificate program at the New School of Cooking in Culver City.
