Q & A with Arrelle

Tell Us About Yourself:

I start each day spending time with God and end my day reflecting on my blessings and daily accomplishments.  I truly enjoy writing, relaxing on the beach, water aerobics, reading and being “Auntie Relle.” Volunteering and spending time with friends, family, Linesisters and Sorority Sisters. I unapologetically live each day like it’s my last and I know that God will always protect and provide for me.

Why did you join J|D?

After countless interviews, meetings the JD leadership team, and a visit to Ypsi, I was still uncertain if I wanted to walk away from a 17-year career in local government.  However, when Darryl told me to “Trust God” I knew I had to make the switch!  I’ve been walking by faith and been all smiles ever since.

What professional project are you most proud of?

Throughout my career I have impacted people’s lives and communities.  My proudest moment was when I was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in Clayton County, Georgia.  Within two years, I negotiated with government officials and voters to increase taxes that accomplished two things: reinstated bus and rail transportation in the County and increased the Capital Improvement Project funding to $872 Million over 6 years to improve the County’s infrastructure.

Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

Australia – I visited multiple cities for the price of one roundtrip ticket.  I visited a friend in Melbourne then Brisbane and Sydney. I petted the kangaroos, held a koala bear, and tasted kangaroo meat!

What is your motto?

Smile bright so we can light up the world together!
