Q & A with Jeffery

What Do You Love About This Industry?

I like the challenges of integrating new technology and how the technology is constantly being implemented into terminals and affecting the passenger experience.  And it’s fascinating working in the aviation industry on the real estate side.

Why did you join J|D?

For an excellent opportunity to help LAX expand for their projects. I was an engineer; I did drainage and design. When the housing crisis happened, I went to law school, then worked for a bank and then a law firm. My role at J|D is a great mix of utilizing my engineering and law background.

What professional project are you most proud of?

The work I’m doing now on the LAX Landside Access Modernization Program. It has been one the greatest project I’ve ever worked on. It’s a 5B project and the first time LAX has expanded their footprint in decades. These opportunities don’t come around all the time.

What is your work motto?

No task to small, no task to big, I will take on anything. I’m not scared to take out the garbage, to headline a project meeting our present to a board of directors.

What is your favorite snack or food?

Whey protein.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Playing guitar. I’ve been doing it for 4 years. I have about 15 songs under my belt. I’m working on my signing and rhythm though I was invited to perform for a wedding shower, and that went well.

Where is your favorite place to be?

The beach.

What would your perfect weekend look like?

I love music. A concert on both days, and me spending time with my daughter, going to the beach is a great weekend.

Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

St. Martin. The water, the relaxing atmosphere, it’s all beautiful.

What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

I worked for UPS for a couple months once during Christmas. They would drop off a pod in a neighborhood, with all these packages, and a trolley and a golf cart to use. I’d drive around the neighborhood in a golf cart delivering UPS packages.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

Something in music. I’d be a concert roadie trying to be a rockstar, setting up the equipment and unloading.

What’s a cause that you are passionate about?

Women’s right especially as a dad to a daughter, now I think about it even more. I want her to have all opportunities open to her.

What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?

Being a pilot.

If you could pick any superpower, what would it be?

Invisibility.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

New Zealand.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you:

I am the youngest of 6 kids.

Do you follow any sports teams?

I like college sports. The University of South Florida Bulls are my favorite. I root for an underdog.

What is your favorite movie genre?

I like a lot of movies and Top Gun 2 I thought it was even better than the first one.

What is your favorite book/movie, why?

I had a phase of reading the autobiographies of comedians and all the Saturday Night Live actors. From Chevy Chase to David Spade. Anyone on SNL who put out a book I read it. They all worked hard, building their success took a lot of personal resolve and belief in themselves.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Jacobsen|Daniels is a great company; it’s the best company I’ve ever worked for.
