Q & A with Tracy

How did you enter the aviation field?

I started as a security officer at O’ Hare airport. I loved being at the airport, it was a small city of its own and I didn’t want to leave there.  After years with the city bouncing around in different positions including finance, marketing, safety and security to design and construction projects, all those pieces fit together which became my own little niche. I never thought I’d be in aviation. It was always my goal to become a Chicago police officer.

What professional project are you most proud of?

Building 5 gate extensions in one of the O’Hare concourses. They were the first new gates that O’Hare had seen in 20 years. Managing that build out for the city, and working so closely with American Airlines, was exciting to be a part of. And that is how I met my husband. after that project we continued to be friends and it evolved.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I have two girls who are active in sports. I truly enjoy, running around to gyms and different competitions. Basketball, volleyball, and cross-country keep us busy.

Where is your favorite place to be?

Key West, it’s my favorite place I was married there on the beach. It was such a blast even though it was a destination wedding 115 friends showed up.

Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

Iceland. By far. It was an amazing untouched place; just beautiful I’d recommend it to anyone.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

If not for this opportunity I’d probably be a police officer like my Dad who was a Chicago Police Officer for 40 years.

What’s a cause that you are passionate about?

In the fields of aviation, transportation, design, and construction there’s not enough women, so I’m a big supporter of groups like that encourage students to consider these industries where women are underrepresented.

Do you follow any sports teams?

The Chicago Bears! We have season tickets and regularly tailgate at home games on Sunday. And of course, I’m a big Cubs fans.

What type of books/movies do you enjoy?

I love anything mystery.

What personal project are you most proud of?

My kids, who they are, their potential, I go home and spend time with my family. Just the simplest things of doing homework with my kids bring me joy. Raising good humans is my most important personal project.
